BlackBerry KEY2 LE 4G: Overview

BlackBerry launched the BlackBerry KEY2 LE in the Australian markets in October 2018. It was a huge flex in 2018. The phone comes in two variations od storage with 4GB RAM. You have choices between a 32GB eMMC 5.1 and a 64 GB eMMC 5.1. Both the variants have a similar price range and the 64GB with 4GB RAM costs about AUD 1089 in Australia.

BlackBerry Phones are iconic and only blackberry fans own these types of Smartphones. You can get better Smartphones with better Specifications on a similar price range. But the thing is the blackberry owners have a different pride over them. Let us jump into the specifications of the KEY2 LE without further due.

Body Design:

BlackBerry KEY2 LE has a dimension of 150.3 x 71.8 x 8.4 mm, which isn’t a large phone. It sits on an aluminum frame and weighs about 156 grams. The iconic look on the Blackberry Smartphones is due to the QWERTY keyboard. The KEY2 LE also integrates this feature which reduces the screen size.

BlackBerry KEY2 LE has an iconic BlackBerry look with the keyboard resting below the screen. It has the Corning Gorilla Glass on the front but doesn’t include on the back. There is a plastic cover on the back, a reason for being a light phone.

Platform:

BlackBerry KEY2 LE operates on an Android 8.1, Oreo version. It is quite outdated but what can you say, it is still usable. The device has an Octa-core GHz Kryo 260 Silver CPU that integrates Adreno 509. It uses a Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 (14 nm) chipset as its main processor. The Adreno 509 GPU is a slight upgrade, Qualcomm says it will provide a 10-percent better gaming experience compared to what you’ll find in the Snapdragon 630. It also provides a more efficient rendering of 3D graphics.

Snapdragon 636 is a fairly powerful midrange chipset, which allows you to render quality graphics on mid-ranged applications. The Snapdragon 636 has an X12 LTE modem with a download speed of up to 600 Mbps. Along with a new chip, a new modem called X50 will allow the Snapdragon 363 to support the 5G networks.

You get a 64GB storage with a 4GB ROM in this variant. There is enough space for your files and applications on the phone. You do not have to worry about running out of space. It is an upgradable storage space using a microSDXC. [

Display:

BlackBerry KEY2 LE has a 4.5 inches IPS LCD capacitative touchscreen that supports up to 16 M colors. The screen-to-body ratio is just 55.6%, which is considerable. The QWERTY keyboard occupies a lot of screen space. The display system has a 1080 x 1620 pixels resolution with an aspect ratio of 3:2. The best thing about the display is the PPI density, which is 434, better than many others.

BlackBerry doesn’t specify the Corning Gorilla Glass version. The Gorilla Glass used as the display protection mechanism works fine for the phone. It can sustain minor drops and abuses. You can install extra Screen Protector on top for better protection.

Camera:

BlackBerry KEY2 LE has a dual-camera system that includes a 13 MP and a 5 MP depth sensor cameras. You can shoot decent photos with the camera system. There are no AI and gyro-EIS on the system. You get a dual-LED-dual-tone flash with HDR support for decent-quality pictures. You can shoot videos up to 2160P  at 30 fps.

There is a single 8 MP camera for selfies and video calling. You get decent selfies with this camera also. It enables you to shoot videos up to 1080p at 30 fps.

Battery & Sound:

BlackBerry KEY2 LE has a Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. You get a decent battery life but it doesn’t support fast-charging. You get a simple travel adapter and takes time to charge.

The speakers on the device are also decent and produce good quality vocals and music. You cannot expect stereo quality with the device. Still, the sound system on the phone is appreciable.

Extras:

Some connectivity features include  WLAN [Wi-Fi 802.11 а/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot], Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, EDR, and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS. You have an NFC, FM Radio, and a USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB On-The-Go.
